You’re here because

Years of trying to change your body haven’t brought the sense of peace you were hoping for.

You’ve spent so much energy trying to feel good in your body: tracking workouts, counting calories, pushing yourself harder than anyone realizes. Yet it never feels enough. At the gym or on dating apps, you compare yourself to every guy around you. The bar for “good enough” keeps moving, and it’s exhausting.

If you’re a gay or bisexual man, you know how relentless that pressure can feel. You’re expected to look a certain way and keep it together. Over time it chips away at your confidence, leaving you disconnected from your body and weighed down by comparisons,

You’re here because you want to feel at home in your body, more connected in your relationships, and less consumed by self-criticism. Change is possible, and you deserve support to break free from the cycle and feel steadier in who you are.

Maybe you…

  • You open the apps hoping to feel a spark of connection, but instead you end up scrolling through profiles that make you second-guess yourself. The endless swiping and comparing can leave you feeling invisible, as if everyone else fits an ideal you can’t reach. It’s hard not to start wondering what’s wrong with you when what you’re really up against is unrealistic expectations and a culture that often values appearance over connection.

  • People may think you have it all together, but they don’t see the self-doubt, pressure, or stress you live with every day. That invisibility can be isolating, as if no one truly understands what’s happening beneath the surface.

  • Your mind keeps circling back to what you ate, what you should eat next, or whether you’ve done enough at the gym. Even when you’re busy or with friends, these thoughts can take up space in the background and wear you down.

  • Skipping a workout isn’t just missing the gym — it can feel like you failed at something important. That guilt or anxiety can start to overshadow your day, making it hard to relax or focus on anything else.

  • Decisions that should be easy — what to eat, what to wear, whether to go out — can feel like a constant debate in your head. The overthinking leaves you feeling tired and frustrated with yourself.

  • You’ve learned to hold certain parts of yourself back — your feelings, your insecurities, even pieces of your identity — because it feels safer to blend in than risk being judged. That hiding can be exhausting and leave you feeling unseen.

Hey. I’m Dr. Matt Richardson.

You deserve to feel enough, just as you are right now.

Whether it’s the constant mental math about food, the pressure to stay in control, or the quiet shame that never really leaves, you don’t have to face it alone.

I specialize in helping men who feel stuck thinking about food, their bodies, and how they measure up. On the outside, you might look disciplined and collected, but underneath there’s the guilt after eating, the pressure to push harder at the gym, the endless comparisons on dating apps or in the mirror. Over time that weight wears down your confidence and leaves you feeling cut off from yourself.

In therapy together, we will slow down enough to see what keeps you stuck, loosen the grip of shame, and build tools that help you feel steadier day to day. My goal is to help you feel more at ease in your own skin, more connected to yourself and others, and to create change that lasts.

How to get started

01 - Reach Out

When you’re ready, fill out the contact form and I’ll get back to you within two business days. From there, we’ll schedule a free 15-minute Zoom call to talk about what you’re looking for, answer your questions, and get a sense of how it feels to work together. If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll share referrals so you can find the support that’s right for you.

02 - Jump In

Once your intake is scheduled, I’ll send you simple instructions to set up your Sessions Health client portal. You’ll fill out a few forms ahead of time so that when we meet, we can focus on your experiences, the challenges you’ve been carrying, and the future you want to build.

03 - Feel Better

Over time, the constant noise about food, your body, and how you measure up begins to quiet. The comparisons lose their grip, and meals or workouts no longer carry so much pressure or guilt. You start to feel more at home in your own skin, more open in relationships, and less burdened by shame. As that weight lifts, there is space for ease, connection, and a steadier sense of self.
